"I won't let you hurt my mother...."


To go along with the previous picture: [link] meet Anthony--Annette's eldest son and first child.

Born from a short romance between his mother and a show dog named Connor, Anthony was the first pup born from any of the Darling "pups" and as such, was given a LOT of attention....mostly from his grandfather, his aunt Angel, but especially his mother. Determined not to let a repeat of Angel's "family issues" happen again, Annette grew fiercely protective of her son; he was her whole world, especially when he was young. He followed her everywhere,and her protectiveness started rubbing off on him: the older he got, the more aware of his own conception he came to be, and started getting very protective of his mother. He didn't want to share her with anyone....but more than that, he didn't want her to get hurt again. And while he didn't fully know how to express that until he grew older, he wasn't very nice to ANY young male NOT related to his family that happened to come around, often trying and failing ridiculous stunts in order to keep them away. But Annette wasn't really looking for another mate, so it didn't REALLY start to become a problem until Jim Dear adopted her and Anthony out to a couple of newly weds that lived in the neighboring town. The couple itself didn't have any other dogs....but THEIR neighbors DID.

And while at first Annette didn't pay him the time of day (really), the more they interacted the more Anthony realized his mom actually liked this foreign canine....and no matter what Anthony tried to do, that didn't seem to change....
