The true royal family: banished to the Outlands after Nala's betrayal, and Simba's loss against Scar.

Weakened and strength fading each day, Simba spends the rest of his life in the Outlands, with his new mate, Zira, step-son, Nuka, and new daughter, Kiara. Sadly, he dies while Kiara is still an infant, but makes Nuka--who is still Scar's son but doesn't realize it--promise that he will look after his half-sister after Simba dies.

I don't think Nuka dies in this story. I like the sibling bond he has with Kiara, and the admiration he has for Simba.
