Sp R-R: once and future kings

It was around dusk Simba had managed to snag Kiara's new playmate away from her, and lead him up to the edge of Pride Rock. Though he no longer viewed Kovu as a threat, he was still an outlander, and certain....precautions were in order.

"Kovu," Simba started, gazing up into the darkening sky, "Do you know what those bright shining things are in the sky?"

Kovu shook his head; a bit nervous at this one-on-one confrontation.

A smile playing on his lips, the king went on. "Those are the great kings of the past, watching over us from beyond." As he spoke, a small pang of sadness tugged at his heartstrings. When he was younger, he used to envision himself having this conversation with his own son, sharing his wisdom to the future king of the Pridelands. But when Kopa died, all dreams of such a moment died with him. No matter how much Simba cherished his daughter, Kiara's teachings best came from her mother.

Then Kovu came along. A scruffy, shy little outlander who'd been deprived of love his entire life. A boy in need of guidance.

A boy in need of a father.

I'm glad I finally finished it!!

In "Simba's Pride: Reboot/Rewind," Simba and Kovu have an interesting relationship. Outlander or not, Kovu isn't the chosen one in this story--rather, he's neglected (much like Nuka was in the original SP--so Zira doesn't keep tabs on him. Thus, he's able to befriend the pridelanders and their king.

Simba is unaware that Kopa is alive--since he was an infant when Zira stole him, the pride assumed he was killed, as he was too small to survive on his own.
